Note on Software Setup
This learning guide assumes a standard installation of the software using the
default options and preferences during installation. Lectures and practices require
the use of the following CATIA licenses:
• Any Platform 2 configuration for the basic mechanical design, such as MD2 or
HD2
• GPS - Generative Part Structural Analysis
• GAS - Generative Assembly Structural Analysis
Lead Contributor: Iouri Apanovitch
Iouri has been specializing in finite element analysis and simulation for over
30 years, with experience on multiple CAD and FEA systems, including CATIA,
Creo, and Abaqus. Iouri uses his extensive knowledge and skills to develop
instructor-led and web-based training products.
Iouri holds a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the National Academy
of Sciences, Minsk, Belarus, as well as a Professional Engineer certification in
Ontario, Canada.
Iouri Apanovitch has been the lead contributor for CATIA: Generative Structural
Analysis since 2015.
