PLM Objects
Individual files are now referred to as objects and may contain
other information than strictly file data. In general, these can be
thought of as their V5 counterparts. There are equivalents for
parts, products, and drawings. Many object types are available,
as shown in Figure 1–7.

Products can be grouped into types. A product file is an
assembly that contains representations. A representation is the
3D visualization of a model. It can be a 3D Shape, which would
be a V5 Part or CGR (lightweight file). It can also be a drawing or
other object that represents the model.
