© 2022, ASCENT - Center for Technical Knowledge® 1–1 C h a p t e r Introduction to Surfacing Several tools are required to construct basic wireframe and surface geometry. Many parts can be designed using only solid geometry. Using solid modeling tools might be limiting as parts become more complex in shape. In these cases, surface features can be used to define more complex shapes. Parts can be completely designed using surface features, or a surface model can be brought into the Part Design application to integrate into a solid part. Learning Objectives in This Chapter • Understand the definition of a surface in the context of a CATIA model. • Recognize the components of the surface interface. • Review surfacing terminology. • Create a surface model.
