Overview
This chapter provides an overview of solid modeling, where you will use features
and parameters to build a model. The relationships created with these features
and parameters can be used to establish the design intent on the model. You will
learn how CATIA maintains associativity between the model, assemblies, and
drawings. You will become familiar with the CATIA user interface and will learn
how to customize it, making it more efficient to work with.
Learning Objectives in this Chapter
• Understand the basics of solid modeling.
• Understand feature-based modeling.
• Understand the parametric and associative nature of CATIA.
• Understand how and why you capture a model's design intent during modeling.
• Become familiar with the CATIA user interface.
• Learn how to work with a model by opening it, customizing the display settings, and selecting
entities.
• Learn how to access the online help system.
