Overview © 2019, ASCENT - Center for Technical Knowledge® 1–7 The design intent is for the hole to pass through the entire model. When the Pad changes from 5.00 to 6.00, the resulting geometry displays differently depending on how the hole is limited. If the hole was created with a depth of 5.00, it no longer passes though the entire part. It must be changed to maintain the design intent. A better solution is to limit the hole using the Up To Last option and ensure that it always passes through the part, regardless of the height of the Pad feature. Method 3 A third method of capturing design intent is to create symmetrical geometry. The design intent for the part (shown in Figure 1–8) is to have the Pocket remain at the center of the part. Figure 1–8 Constraining the Pocket from either end of the Pad feature does not capture the design intent. Constructing the Pad and Pocket relative to a center datum reference is preferable.
