V5 Licensing
In V5, configurations of licenses are purchases. For example,
purchasing a CAC+FPE+HDX+MCE configuration would include
these elements:
CAC – Base V5 PLMExpress
FPE – Fabricated Product Creation Package
HDX – Mechanical Shape Design Package
MCE – Mechanical Product Creation Package
Additional licenses are also available as add-ons and shareable
products.
3DEXPERIENCE Platform Licensing
In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, roles are purchased instead of
configurations. The role includes a set of specific licenses that
are typically used together for a specific job task. Several roles
are shown in Figure 1–6.

For example, the MDG (Mechanical Designer Role) includes 25
different apps. These individual apps are still identified by their
trigram.

• Surface Designers
• Decision Makers
