Select the Format drop-down list to change the file type of the exported file, as listed in the following table: 3. Select the location to save the file. 4. Set exclusion options (Optional). 5. Press OK. While saving, the B.I. Essentials window opens and color codes each part, as shown in Figure 1–25. To be exported is green, To be excluded is white, To be delegated is blue, and To be waived is cyan. Figure 1–25 To exclude a part from being exported: Option Description 3DXML with authoring Creates a 3DXML file that contains part feature data. This part can be modified by other users. 3DXML with Review Creates a 3DXML file that contains a review. Other users will be able to see the file and add notes and markup data. CATIA file Creates a file that will be compatible with CATIA V5. IGES3D Exports as a neutral .IGS file. Commonly used to transfer surface data between CAD programs. STEP Exports as .STP file. Commonly used to transfer solid data between CAD programs. STL Exports a Stereo Lithography file; typically used for 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
