3D EXPERIENCE 2022x: Introduction to CATIA Modeling 1–6 © 2022, ASCENT - Center for Technical Knowledge® This database can be accessed through a variety of methods: 1. Webclient 2. Windows integration 3. Tablet 4. Mobile Since the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is based on a relational database, instead of saving individual files into folders on a network or local drive, all files are stored in the database. This alleviates issues with version control and data backup. In the database, files can be locked or unlocked to prevent accident over-writing (check-in and check-out). Version control can be applied to models. Different revisions and variations can easily be made. Non-CAD data and information can be stored, broadening the files' scope and depth-of-use. Compatibility CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE use the same geometry modeling engines. Models from the same release can be transferred back and forth while maintaining feature history, as shown in Figure 1–5.
