The software understands that the model is filled with material. With a solid model, you can perform the following: • Obtain the mass properties of a part. • Determine if components in an assembly interfere with one another. • Create cross-sections of an assembly or display part cross-sections in a drawing. Instead of manually drawing the views on the drawing, you can reference the part model to generate views and show the dimensions from the 3D geometry, as shown in Figure 1–1.
