Note that the construction surfaces (such as Blend.1) are hidden. Surface operations consume the surfaces used in the feature so that Join.8 represents the collection of surfaces for all future modeling operations. Figure 1–10 When you finish creating surface features, you can create solid geometry, if required. At this point, your model contains a surface representation of the 3D model. This model is termed water tight, indicating that the surfaces form a closed skin. However, parts modeled with surfaces do not necessarily need to be converted into solid geometry.
