Database
The goal of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is to integrate the
various disconnected 3D processes. By tying different aspects of
product creation, development, and manufacturing, the platform
becomes a single source of truth to define the product. As such,
all file information is stored in a shared database.
As opposed to simply storing files in folders, a database creates
relations between files so that they may be searched, filtered,
and connected in meaningful ways that create value and
usefulness, making it easier to work with large sets of data and
provide individual users with the knowledge that they need.
This database can be accessed through a variety of methods:
1. Webclient
2. Windows integration
3. Tablet
4. Mobile
Since the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is based on a relational
database, instead of saving individual files into folders on a
network or local drive, all files are stored in the database. This
alleviates issues with version control and data backup.
