CATIA Tip: Hatching Lines that do not Display

Let’s continue with some CATIA tips under a minute in the drafting workbench. This tip will apply to cross section views when you are sectioning through smaller parts (example: small washer/nut in a larger assembly cross section view).  Once you have generated the cross-section view, instead of seeing the diagonal hatching lines, you see the part turn to a thicker outline only.

The thicker outline is there to indicate to you that the spacing distance you are using for the hatching is too large for the relative size of part you are sectioning. Because of this, no hatching lines display within the section. The fix to this is to make the hatching distance smaller. Create a selection trap around the part, right click and select properties and decrease the hatching pitch.
