Software Simulations for PLM eLearning: Custom Designs

This blog is a follow-up on Software Simulations for PLM eLearning: Standard Designs. In this blog I provide information about what types of customizations can be added to Software Simulations. It was mentioned in the first blog that you can change the color and font of the callouts and notes. Listed below are other customizations that are available:

  1. Custom Sidebar

The custom sidebar is permanently displayed on every simulation page. It can include information about the simulation, such as learning objectives or Task steps. It only acts as a reference for what to do at the current step but also provides a way to navigate or jump to specific steps. Basically, the custom side bar provides a big picture view of where you are in the entire process.

  1. Custom Bottom Playbar

The bottom playbar typically includes the navigation buttons such as Next and Previous, as well as the Mute button if audio is included. The bottom playbar can also include a Hint button if the simulations have limited guidance.

  1. Audio

Audio can be added (in the form of text-to-speech (TTS) or a human voice) to simulations on all slides or on specific slides for emphasis.

  1. Quizzes/Knowledge Checks

Quizzes, also referred to as Knowledge Checks, can be placed at the end or throughout the simulation to ensure the concepts have been understood.
