CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE 2022x: Activating the Specification Tree

When working with CATIA Models within the 3DEXPERIENCE, new users can often find themselves in a situation where the model “dims” and becomes no longer selectable. If they try to pan or zoom, they notice the specification tree moves but the model doesn’t. This situation is caused by the specification tree becoming active. This video describes how that happens, why it can be useful, how to fix it if it is happening unexpectedly, and how to keep it from happening again.

Topics covered in this video demonstration include:

  • What does it mean to Activate the Tree/Model?
  • Activate by selecting the Tree.
  • Activate the Tree View command.
  • Preferences to control tree activating by accident.
