Specifying roughness on multiple surfaces in CATIA’s FTA workbench

The Functional Tolerancing and Annotation (FTA) workbench in CATIA allows for a user to overlay information that would normally be found in a separate drawing file, directly into the 3D part or product file. Many believe that this capability is the beginning of the end for traditional 2D engineering drawings, with many companies already choosing to forego them entirely.

One of the problems presented in this method is to show how a certain surface roughness symbol may apply to several surfaces. Instead of creating the same symbol on each surface (which is tedious and also creates a more chaotic view), let us step through how to do this easily in the FT&A workbench.
