Custom PLM Training Projects: Productivity Enhancements in the New Teams

December 8, 2023 Barb Nash

In addition to the enhanced Posts functionality and Group Chat-related enhancements in the New Teams, as documented in my blogs: Using the Posts Tab and Using a Teams Group Chat, other general enhancements in the New Teams that have helped our productivity on custom PLM training projects include:

1. Find in Channel

2. Display a Channel’s Details in the New Right Pane, and

3. Zoom In and Out of a Screenshare during a Teams meeting

These three enhancements are summarized below.

1. Find in Channel

As mentioned in our Group Chat blog, you can perform a search in a specific chat or group chat. You can also perform a search in a Teams channel. To do this, press <CTRL+F> to open the Find in chat box in the right pane. Enter a keyword and press <ENTER> or select the search icon, as shown in the image below. An example search with its search results is also shown in the image below. Select on a search result to be directed to the details of a specific result such as a post.

2.  Display a Channel’s Details in the New Right Pane

You can now display a Team channel’s key details in the new right pane in Teams. This enhancement reminds me of PLM and its Properties pane for CAD and Change objects. The channel details shown include all the members, the description, and the Find in channel, Manage channel, and Channel notifications options. You can also see all the updates made under Updates such as a member joining and leaving a team. To display the channel details pane, click, and to close the channel details, click, as shown in the image below.

3. Zoom In and Out of a Screenshare during a Teams meeting

The last one is regarding the ability to easily zoom in and out of a screenshare session during a Teams meeting you are attending. We find this comes in very handy when sharing detailed PLM process workflows and detailed spreadsheets so that the details are more readable. Below is an example showing the + icon for zooming in, the icon for zooming out, and the reset icon.

Hope you find the enhancements useful like we did!
