Custom PLM Training Development Part 4: Module Development and Review

This blog addresses the development and review for each training module/chapter. By referencing the client-approved storyboard, you can now execute the plan as laid out in the storyboard and begin the training module/chapter development. 

 

The following are the activities associated with developing and reviewing a training module (or chapter): 

  • Reference the storyboard to review the components that are to be created for each module, such as videos, software simulations, knowledge checks, etc.  

  • Develop a DRAFT version of each module by assembling the DRAFT versions of the components. 

  • Send the DRAFT version of each module to the client for review. 

  • The client reviews the DRAFT version and can conduct pilot training using the DRAFT version, if desired, to obtain additional feedback. 

  • Once client feedback is received, it is implemented to create a FINAL version of each module. 

Note: If publishing the content to a Learning Management System (LMS) is a requirement, this is the time when a sample module can be published and imported into the LMS for testing purposes and to confirm the settings required in preparation for the Publish and Delivery of Final Deliverables phase.

Throughout this process, we hold regular status meetings with the client to discuss the project’s progress and communicate the development status of each module. If using Microsoft Teams, tools such as the Tasks by Planner and To Dos app, that includes Kanban board functionality, are used to help communicate the project status. An example board is shown in the image below. The board can be customized to your preferences and updated to show target dates, custom labels, checklists, assignments, etc. The example below shows eight modules in different phases of the development and review process.

Once the feedback has been implemented into the final versions, the modules can be published and delivered. If required, the modules can be translated into multiple languages during this stage as each module is finalized. The next blog, Part 5, covers the Publish and Delivery of Final Deliverables stage of the project.
