How Click-to-Reveal Boosts Curiosity in eLearning

This blog is Part 2 of our eLearning Design Series, where we explore different interactive features and strategies that transform static content into engaging, learner-centered experiences. This blog addresses how the click-to-reveal feature boosts curiosity in eLearning. Sometimes the best way to keep learners curious is to let them discover the answer instead of handing it to them.

If you would like to review the other blogs in the series, you can access them via the links below. As each blog is released, they will be available here:

Fundamental definitions and terminology are typically presented at the start of training. Learners often skim, disengage, and miss the opportunity to fully process the information. The click-to-reveal feature changes that. With this simple interaction, learners click on a keyword or image to reveal more detail. For example, in a PLM course, instead of displaying all the descriptions for fundamental terminology immediately, learners could first think about what they believe the description is, then click to reveal it, as shown in the image below.

In summary, it is best practice to use click-to-reveal when:

  • You want learners to interact with the content progressively rather than read passively.
  • Information should be discovered (e.g., key terms, extra details, etc.).
  • You want to keep screens visually simple while hiding deeper layers.

Click-to-reveal creates active engagement, encourages recall, and keeps the screen uncluttered. Rather than passively reading, learners are interacting with the content—making them more likely to remember it.

Next time you need to present definitions, key terms, or layered details, use click-to-reveal to turn static content into a discovery experience.

Did you know? Our team specializes in creating PLM eLearning that keeps learners curious and engaged through techniques such as click-to-reveal interactions, scenario-based examples, and modular design.
