Rapid PLM Adoption Phase 1 - Discovery and Curriculum Plan

November 5, 2024 Barb Nash

This blog is the first of three that describe the phases of our rapid Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) adoption projects: Phase 1 covers the Discovery and Curriculum Plan; Phase 2 focuses on Content Development and Assembly; and Phase 3 addresses Delivery and Support. These projects deliver customized PLM training to prepare end users for using their PLM software with tailored business processes. The software may be new to them or have been upgraded to a new version.

Phase 1: Discovery and Curriculum Plan

The purpose of the first phase, Discovery and Curriculum Plan, is to identify all the learning content and formats required for the end users. It also includes a review of job roles, processes, and tasks to determine the learning objectives and the order of the courses or modules. The deliverables consist of a matrix showing the curriculum by role, training pathways for each role, and specifics for each course/module. Note that if this phase has already been performed in-house by the client, we can move to Phase 2.  As a reference, the information below shows the purpose, inputs, process and deliverables of this phase.

An example of the Matrix of Curriculum by Role deliverable is shown in the image below, featuring the module names and format types on the left (self-paced or instructor-led) and the roles on the right, along with the number of hours for each course listed below each role.
